no. You should keep it only very minimally damp though. I would prop in water tbh and pot in earth only when roots appear.

Looks like the same pot mine came in from the nursery if that helps. Should be good. I just tonight re potted all my snake plants. I had 6 plants still in those little containers from like 4 years ago. All i ever gave them was tap water if they were lucky. Lol. I had them sitting in one of those aluminum bbq/roaster pans where they got decent indirect sunlight. The thing I found is the soil I had been using (big box cactus soil) was still holding too much moisture so I added extra perlight and stone grit to help loosen up the soil and hopefully help it drain better. I used a no nutrient soil and then add liquid cactus fertilizer when I bottom water in the sink. Sorry for all the extra info. Hope this helps. Im no expert, just had thes for about 5 years or so. I’ve definitely learned how resilient they are.
