Your mom is right. I have them too. The one on the right I know as dragon and on the left I think in English is called marginata
Dracaena deremensis ‘compacta’ and Dracena marginata
Dracaena is the Genus, so there are quite a few plants under that banner. Like the dragon tree, corn plant, lucky bamboo (spoiler it’s not a bamboo but is good for luck) and song of India.
*Dracaena fragrans ‘Compacta’* and *D. reflexa var. angustifolia*.

Some people confuse the one on the right with a palm tree. I have had mine for 2 years now but my plant app calls it Dracaena reflexa var. angustifolia “Tricolor”. The edges of the leaves sometimes turn yellow.
