repot!
r/succulents is a great resource for string of plants. Go give em a visit 😁edit: it’s not a succulent, I learned new things today! Thank you for your wonderful knowledge below!!
I always repot plants about 1-2 weeks after I buy them, this gives them time to adjust before the stres of repotting. You never know what could be hiding under the soil.
Check for seed starter bags when you do so. They’re papery cloth around the plant in the dirt that are made to nurture a seedlings and are supposed to decompose naturally < they do not. They will restrict root growth and retain way too much moisture close to your plant, often resulting in a failure to trive or death.
This plant probably doesn’t have a seed starter bag because those are more common on woody plant varieties, but the soil is likely too rich for it. I would repot in a new pot that is roughly 2″ wider than the rootball and add a mix of potting soil and perlite. I’d say maybe a 50/50 mix, but r/succulents would know better than me (not my strong suit).
I’d also give it a good misting on top and the roots of diluted dish soap (like 1-2 drops in a spray bottle of water and shake) just for a light pest protection. If you find pests in the soil, you’ll need to rinse all the soil out of the roots with room temperature water, dry the roots off gently, and spray with the diluted soap mixture.
Long post, but hope it’s helpful.
They love to be wet, I put sphagnum moss over the dirt and never let it dry out, I keep mine in my bio active snake enclosure and the humidity stays around 70% and that’s the only way Ive been able to me them alive
