      And you still have not seen one! They is a water lily (genus Nymphaea) which is different from a lotus (genus Nelumbo). Water lilies have pads and have roots and a crown that are planted deep under water. Lotuses grow at the surface and have leaves and flowers they grow about the water–sometimes several feet, ever.

      I grow both!

      They are so cool. I went to the Kenilworth Park & Aquatic Gardens by DC earlier this year when they were in bloom and was just mesmerized by how cool and enchanting they are.
