The image shows a vibrant display of Campanula portenschlagiana, commonly known as the Dalmatian Bellflower. These beautiful violet-blue flowers are seen cascading down a wall, characteristic of their vigorous, mat-forming, and trailing habit.

Here are some details about this plant:
Appearance: It features heart-shaped, mid-green leaves and a profusion of striking violet-blue, bell-shaped flowers.
Growing Habit: It is a low-growing, evergreen perennial known for its vigorous, mat-forming habit, making it excellent for ground cover, rock gardens, raised beds, or trailing over walls and pots.
Flowering Season: It typically blooms from July to September, providing a long-lasting display of color.
Care: It thrives in well-drained soil and can tolerate full sun to partial shade. Once established, it is also quite drought-tolerant.

Love this. Garden noob here. How to start it off? Can I buy seeds and just throw them down?

I have some of this in a hanging basket but think I’ll try planting where my patio meets my house . Bought in lidl and wasn’t sure it was better this way .

Campanula… ok…. I planted it twice in pots, I took care of it the best I could, but it still managed to die every time. Now I see one growing on a building. Ok.

Ahh, that pic makes me wistful. I used to have a concrete yard that had been taken over by these. Absolutely smothered, not a cm of concrete on show. When they flowered, it was a sea of beautiful purple and SO LOUD from all the bees!

My old cat was an idiot. He’d sit in the midst of this and ‘hold’ a bee in his mouth. He never ate them, just sat there quietly buzzing and would eventually spit that bee out. Bee would shake the cat spit off, sit for a while to dry and then get busy again. Meanwhile cat would have another bee in his chops! He never got stung, he’d just sit there with this cheeky look. Little sod!

It’s called a gas meter compartment.
Usually the pipe that exits the box is secured and has an earth bond to it.
      This one is dangerous.

We have a house, on a 70’s residential estate and a paler bellflower has established itself along the crack between the eastern side of our house and the concrete path up the side. It is in full shade as the path is only one metre wide and on the far side of the path is the 6 foot fence forming the boundary with our next door neighbour.

It doesn’t cause any damage, and would be very easy to clear IF I chose to do so. I do clear out competing weeds (buddleia seedlings and the like) and so I know how easy to pull it up accidentally.

      What variety I have, I don’t know.

Weirdly despite dead leaves etc collecting along the western side of the house (which has an identical path but with a 3 feet high wall on the other side), it doesn’t grow there. I do wonder if I should pull some from the eastern path and plant them along the western path as well.
