In Zone 9.
Danke!

How is your soil Ph? Azaleas need an acid soil, a lot of zone 9 areas have alkaline soil and water.
First things first, it appears to be planted too deep, and has mulch heaped up around the base.
Properly planting a shrub involves removing the pot, removing excess soil from the top (sometimes nurseries plant them too deep in containers) exposing the root ball, and ensuring that the top of the root ball is even with grade. If planted too deep, roots can literally suffocate, stressing the plant and leading to lots of other symptoms, and eventuality killing the plant. Leaf yellowing and drop, mites, aphids etc are often a secondary symptom of stress caused by less than ideal conditions.
After that, make sure it’s getting the right amount of light. Most azaleas need part shade, especially afternoon shade. Reblooming azaleas (e.g. ‘Encore’) can handle more direct sun, but regular ones cannot.
They need moist but well draining soil. If it’s too wet then roots can rot, to dry and it won’t be able to establish itself properly. If you’re hand watering for a few minutes every morning, chances are it’s not getting the water penatration it needs to spread deep lateral roots.
Bottom line, seek to fix any growing conditions that could be stressing the plant. Fertilizers, sprays etc are a bandaid at best.
Way too sunny for an azalea. I had to take a tree down this year and now my azalea unfortunately looks just like yours. I planted a few fast growing shrubs that will hopefully provide some shade cover next year.
