It might be a little too big. I’d suggest harvesting it a day or two sooner. The bigger they are, the bigger and tougher the seats are.

Dont let them get that big. The taste is far superior when they’re smaller. The only thing that will be good for is zucchini bread

Absolutely wonderful. I got my first this year too! Planted one green and one golden. Everyone I know has zucchini at least once a week in some form.

And when the season’s over, you can have a friendly game of soccer! 🤣

Nice zucchini OP.! I have mine in a planter and only a couple of scrawny ones came through. My first year as well, live and learn. I’ll give them more room next year.

Pick them a little smaller. They taste better and are less seedy when they are slightly smaller. Good job though!

You can definitely cut that into spears and cut the seeds off. It’s great pan-seared or grilled. Or my favorite, shred it for zucchini fritters!

Hurry! Close the net before the squash vine borers get in!

What is that netting? Also did you cut a hole in the grass for the plant?

Asking because i want to make a similar setup

When they get that large, I peel deseed them, then roast them with tomatoes, onions, and peppers. I purée these roasted vegetables with a little salt and pepper. It makes a delicious vegetable bisque. Something about that roasted zucchini makes it have the consistency of a bisque which has had cream added. You get the texture without the calories.
