They are just protein. You will be fine. How many have you eaten throughout your life and you didn’t die.

Ah, nature. I know it may seem gross, but those guys just want a bite or two 😆. Maybe you let them have this one so they can grow up into cute fluffy moths.

Legit just protein. My Korean radish had holes in them, if there was anything in them they got turned into kimchi all the same.

Those are squash vine borers that weren’t properly prevented. Zucchinis, pumpkins etc get them from a type of moth that flies around your plants and eventually lays eggs in them. They live in the vines, etc and eventually emerge. The best way to prevent them is to do root soak treatments. You would have likely seen yellowing in the plants and leaves and these brown patches they seal themselves in with. That is not what normally comes out of a zucchini plant otherwise.

Yuck. Luckily we cut up our zucchini in small pieces, so I would very likely notice the worms or signs of worms before eating them. Still pretty gross

Eh, I get pickle worms in my cucumbers, eventually. Here in Hawaii it just seems to be a fact of life. The cucumbers with holes get thrown in a tub of plain water. The worms exit because they are drowning. I pull them out and put them in the bin for the chickens. The soaked cucumbers get sliced near the hole to see the interior damage. The bad parts go to the goats and cows. The good parts we slice up for ourselves. You just have to learn how to live with other critters, if you want to eat all your crop. As an aside, I do grow cucumbers without pickle worms too.

I get something similar in my pigeon peas and string beans. They only eat the fruit though. I just leave it in a pile in the yard. They turn into moths and become nocturnal pollinators. Im not going to eat all the beans and peas I plant so I just let them have a few.
But it depends on the type of gardener you are. I save hundreds of seeds, so I’ve got several plants at once. Sometimes 12 to 20 of the same bean and peas plant. So I don’t disturb insects, there’s usually a few sacrificial plants that are entirely for the wild. So I see lots of wild animals and they eat whatever ripes.
If you dislike insects, then use Sevens powder. Its effective and cheap. Most dollar stores or garden centers gave it.
Be mindful that other foods like figs, cherries, mangos, and goose berries have borrowing worms 🪱 in them, that eat grow, then leave. Its a natural part of some fruits cycle so there’s normally a few with worms in them. You can identify worm infested fruit by looking for small brown circles on it. Or open circles. Open circles are worms that actively come out for air. While brown ones are ones that cocoon or live sealed up in the fruit. You can also double check by cutting the fruit open, by slicing the area of the small circles. You’ll see tunneling and the worms inside it. 😅 I see hundreds of worms every year from my pigeon peas. They are cute and I just chuck them onto a tree with lots of worms already.

Yeah, I can’t grow zucchini here. If by some miracle a bug hasn’t eaten the plant and it grows an actual zucchini, it’s instantly riddled with bugs. Same for cucumbers which sucks bc I love cucumbers and growing them. The last few years I tried growing them, 90% were already infested with some larvae inside of it.

I forget that not everyone grew up growing veggies and making their own food and the idea of bugs in food source is fairly natural and common. The video tho, never encounterd that but i would just give it to the chickens. When you cut up damaged veggies you see evidence of infestation

Let me be the messenger: There are regulations for how much bug is allowed in canned vegetables. To be absolutely clear: If you eat canned tomatoes, you are eating worms.

Wait until you figure out microbiology. All good food is alive. And you don’t even digest the food you eat, but colonies of trillions of bacteria do, and you’re just a host.
