My experience of Salix is they are thirsty and unsuited to being in a pot. Even in the ground, I water mine twice a week.
I would water it well every 2 or 3 days and add a layer of mulch to the top.
The pot is way too small. It needs regular compost change-remove top few inches regularly and mulch up They require lots of water and food. I water mine daily in the summer. Trees need lots of water in pots. Don’t keep chopping it back once it’s in its growth spate.
