Remove weeds and crap from Long thin bed next to wire nettting and top dress the bed with a few bags of compost and a handful of growmore per meter and plant summer bulbs, perennials and ten pots of sweet peas. Pressure wash the pavers and remove the weeds. And replenish the soil in between with compost with John innes mixed in and loads of wildflower seeds. Then get some large planters. Also have some great ones. Get bags of compost and plants and bulbs to fill them and a hose to water them daily.

Here is my work in progress garden at my rented property. Just waiting to paint fences and sort the back and move all my pots into position and started this a year ago. You can move all of these ok The pots ideally in winter when everything has died down.

How long do you see yourself being there?

If you are there for a couple more years, then it’s herbs and some nice pots.

Any longer and I’m asking permission for troughs and to lift a row of slabs.

    3. Can youift any hard standing? Unless my eyesight is bad it looks all to be hard and no soil?
Pots to move on are obvious.
I buy recycled plastic pots from online. Extremely cheap. Very light. Don’t break unlike pottery – I’ve spent fortunes on do called frost proof only for them to break quickly.

Might be nice to “break up” the garden somehow? I can’t tell what would work with the space you’ve got, but my previous garden had a trellis on each side coming half way into the garden. One was 1/3 of the way down coming from the right fence, the other 2/3 coming from the left fence, effectively creating two hidden areas. I realise your budget might not spread to trellises, but maybe using taller plants or reclaimed items might work?

I would be lazy and keep the bins opposite the kitchen door and to the left, maybe build a basic lean-to or stick them behind a bit of trellis or something if you don’t want to be looking at them. That frees up your shed for potting, storage, etc. I also wonder how big of a green house you’re planning to put in the middle of the space: my instinct would be to put it along the lefthand fence along with the shed to avoid making the space feel cluttered? Or possibly – if it’s just a small cold frame – next to the kitchen window against that wall. Also depends on the aspect and where you’ll get the amount of sun you want. Good luck with the project! Post updates when you have them so we can cheer you along!

I think you’ll find your half way there if you jet wash and remove the weeds. Then get some pots for plants, plastic pots are cheaper.
