I agree with the previous comment they look like they’re planted too deep. You want to have them at the same height of the soil line before you planted them.

You’ve buried them too deep!
The should be planted so the stalk can still be seen.
Otherwise the moisture from the soil will rot the stalks of the plant!
Lift them up and replant!

I’d put a brick or stone to lift the barrel off the ground for drainage.

Why have you buried them? They need to be raised out of the soil to stand a chance.

I think the depth you’ve planted them is fine. David Austin recommend 2-3 inches above the bud union for soil level. I plant all my roses deep to protect them from winter weather. This changes in warmer climates which is why there is conflicting information online.

Btw planting two climbers in one pot is not good. You should move the other into separate pot or somewhere in ground.
