Hallo zusammen. Vielen Dank für die bisher erhaltenen Ratschläge. Wie vorhergesagt, entdeckte ich beim Entfernen des künstlichen Grases darunter eine dünne Schicht staubiger, körniger Substanz. Ich habe heute früher eine Rotation durchgeführt und war mit den Ergebnissen sehr zufrieden. Meine Frage ist, sollte ich versuchen, es ganz loszuwerden, oder ist es in Ordnung, es einzumischen, um die Entwässerung im Ton zu unterstützen? Planen Sie die Lieferung einer Ladung Mutterboden, um das körnige Material zu verdünnen. Dank im Voraus.

What did you do with the astro turf?
I don’t think the topsoil is necessary unless you know for sure that what you want to plant needs it. Lots of grasses and flowers are fine with poor soil, and this looks plenty dark.
I really like Nigel Dunnett’s book Naturalistic Planting Design. He’s also pretty active on Instagram if you’re looking for some design ideas.
The granular stuff is usually 6mm-to-dust granite or limestone. It’s no problem to just rotovate it into the soil. I would definitely want to add some soil improvement/new topsoil as the plastic has stopped any normal soil development for a few years, and it tends to go a bit “sour” (no sunlight, reduced worm action, no freeze/thaw, no leaves/organic matter rotting down). Artificial grass is a terrible thing, I’m a landscaper and to my shame, we only began to refuse to have anything to do with it about 6 years ago. I’m glad to say we’ve been removing quite a few in the last couple of years, so well done you for this too!!

We had something similar when removing our astroturf. We rotavated it then put down a layer of topsoil, followed by turf. The granular stuff will be good for drainage. Our turf took really well to it!
I’m jealous! I removed the astroturf in our garden last year and underneath was all rubble! That was quite the task.
The granular stuff is just crushed rock. Show me a garden with no stones in the soil.
Honestly unless you want flower beds I would just level after rotovating and sow grass seed. Save the money on topsoil. Grass doesnt need a lot at all.

Yeah see the hard base as an opportunity for well draining soil. Add lots of organic matter
