It’s Rosebay Willowherb. Aka fireweed, because it’s very fast to colonise bomb and fire sites.

Willow herb. There’s a few different types and some are smaller than this. It self seeds like mental but very pretty

*Chamaenerion angustifolium*, rosebay willowherb. The standard willowherbs in *Epilobium* are opposite leaved.

It’s very rarely grown in gardens because it seeds like hell (the Yanks call it “fireweed” because it’s the first to colonise after forest fires) and spreads by the roots. It is one of the prettiest native plants we have and supposedly there’s a white form that’s less root-spready.

Agree with all the other comments that it’s rosebay willowherb. A weed but an absolutely beautiful one.
