The Goosebumps episode, ‘Revenge of the Lawn Gnomes’, ensured I would never own one of these as long as I live.

    2. I don’t, but I have a wooded area at the very bottom so now that you’ve given me an idea I might hide a couple of gnomes down there for the kid to find

Not one. It took years to get rid of them but we haven’t spotted a gnome in the garden since we got the pit bulls plus a few bits of poisoned lasagne in traps to catch any the dogs miss.

Be careful, they do breed. My mum bought me a gnome when I lived in a house with a pond. Unfortunately, he sadly drowned. In return, I bought her a gnome. When she went on holiday, he got married (I even took wedding and honeymoon pics and posted them to her address, in the gnomes name). Soon, the newlyweds had a baby, then another, then triplets!
My current garden is gnome free but I do have a gargoyle type thing.

I want them eventually when garden isnt such a wilderness but after seeing the price of the proper solid concrete ones that won’t smash as soon as you look at them I might have to buy some moulds and DIY it.

Maybe even have some gonks too.

I used to but got rid of mine after I found out they eat hedgehogs.

3 Buddha, 2 Bears, 1 Frog, 1 Sheep, 1 Bird, and 1 Fat Terracotta Warrior. All painted the same grey and have bushes growing around them.

    8. I got gifted some gnomes as a wedding present. Then it just started from there. Got several hidden around the garden now, all of various sizes and disguises

Not to be dramatic but I’d rather not have a garden at all than one with gnomes in it. Hideous little creeps.

I remember when I was growing up in the 90s, a house I walked past had so many gnomes in their front garden. All different, all doing different things. There must have been between 30-50 over the years. It was so fun walking past that garden and looking in to see if any more had been added or moved.

I always wanted to steal a garden gnome, then go travelling the world and take pictures of the gnome at various landmarks, mailing them back to its owner. Then when I return, drop the gnome off again with a few souvenirs.

Unfortunately life got in the way of my master plan!

    12. Many years ago, when I was a young drink addled teen with my own house, garden gnomes started appearing in my home. 1 or 2 a week then it got more crazy. 1 every couple of nights. No idea where they came from.
Then one morning my friends and I (it was a moving packing party) woke up to find 42 gnomes scattered all over my house (in cupboards, on tables and even sitting on the toilet).
The culprit was soon found when we were witness to my nephew (only a year younger than me and I was talking care of him at the time) fast asleep on the sofa hugging a 4 foot garden gnome. Turns out every so often he would go gnome hunting at night for the hell of it . I was leaving this house a few days after so we loaded every gnome in the pantry cupboard as a present for the next tenants. So at one time I had 42 of them. None now, after that they gave me the creeps
