    1. Given that you’re in Australia it looks like it could be [Aseroe rubra, or the anemone stinkhorn](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aseroe_rubra)! Very cool soil-dwelling fungus, though you may not want to keep it around in your kitchen considering it produces a carrion-like smell to attract flies, which it uses to disperse its spores.

After a quick search, looks like devil’s fingers fungus, and should mean you have good soil.

Welp, the good news is, it’s empty.

The bad news is there’s a facehugger loose somewhere in your house.

    4. Some people can smell those things and some can’t, which is interesting. When one pops up in my front yard I can smell it immediately- my family can’t and it drives me nuts!

hahah I can imagine if you were not aware of crazy looking mushrooms like these how terrified one would be seeing something like this in their plant pot

How the heck do you manage to grow a stinkhorn mushroom in your plant pot?

You’re in Australia and this pops up approaching Halloween? Yeah you’re in trouble. It’s surely alive and venomous. Don’t sleep in the same room with it.

JK. It looks cool. Creepy but cool. I’m kinda jealous

I love that all the pics of it are taken from like 10 feet away.

      *ZOOOOOOM*

lol I get these in my garden after heavy rain. Good news, your soil is healthy. Bad news, you may be overwatering your fig. 💚🪴

Just started watching The Last of Us, a show about a fungus that turns the infected into cannibalistic zombies. This fits right in!

    12. Wow, that’s amazing!! You should help it spread its spores outside. What a gift!

    14. Looks like one of my chickens buried itself on your plant and just the comb os sticking out

Is that a ficus Audrey because I’m pretty sure that’s Audrey 2

lol welcome to the wonderful world of fungi. You’re fine, just get it out of the soil so less spores drop so you can prevent it from coming back. You can also water in some zerotol HC if you really want to kill the fungi. You’ll have to replace it with mycorrhizae (beneficial fungi that don’t make a fruit/mushroom).

That’s super cool. Those aren’t one of the common indoor mushrooms.

Omg OP I am a mushroom FANATIC and even though these particular specimens smell like butthole I would be ecstatic if one popped up in my houseplant lol

This is terrifying…more so since I have this plant. Hopefully I’m ok not in Australia
