      I didn’t comment on the previous post but I was 100% sure it was squirrels, they eat mine too 😫

      Last year a grey squirrel ate the blooms and leaves of my mums — just left the stem skeletons. This year I’m trying a ground-level bird bath, thinking they might just be thirsty. So far so good.

      The bush-tailed tree rat strikes again. They like to compete with the parakeets to see who can scoff the most apples off our tree.

      As annoying as this is, it’s also extremely adorable.

      I like squirrels but not in my garden. Fortunately since my youngest cat arrived and left couple of partially or fully decapitated squirrels in the garden, the survivors seem to have gotten the message. Now, squirrels moved to planting chestnuts and acorns in pots on the fence, digging out plants from there 🤦‍♀️

      I’m sorry 😔 they are very naughty and have enjoyed all my flowers this year! Those that weren’t eaten by slugs were eaten by squirrels instead!

      They ate my entire orchard last year, I have no pears for the second year running, no figs ever, and yesterday I saw one run across the lawn with an apple in its mouth and realised two trees were stripped.
      I cant be bothered to learn to be a sniper. What’s the best way of deterring/ dispatching them? They steal hen eggs and are probably decimating the song birds. The dog and cat has taken care of a few, but not enough.
      II’ve tried traps once before but have only caught one and was then a bit freaked out.

      My biggest gripe is they are an invasive species and have eliminated the native reds I used to see as a kid.

      I left some jammy dodgers with my tea on the garden chair, went for a quick pee on the compost pile, and just sitting there when i got back, was a little shit squirrel eating one of the jammy dodgers ffs is nothing safe from these critters lol
