Unlikely but cut off the ends and let it callus and give ‘er a try haha

Zz are a bitch to prop from cuttings, I’ve tried many times and only succeeded a few times plus they take forever to grow a rhizome. Best off through separation, I’ve never tried leaf propagation but apparently that takes forever too.

    Actually, maybe.

I’ve successfully propagated my raven like this. All I did was put it in water and leave it alone. It’s never hurts to try.

  4. I’m not sure why everyone is being so discouraging, that looks perfectly prop-able to me. Just stick them in water and be prepaired to wait for a reeeeally long time. My first ZZ prop took about 14 months to root.

I’ve had ZZs successfully root from similar scraps, in worse conditions than that. I’ve also had a zz stem in water (that I forgot about) where the top 1/3 of the plant dried up and the bottom 1/3 rotted, and then the middle bit went ahead and rooted.. they seem to be extremenly hard to kill off completely, and those are definitely worth a shot.

Zz leaves easily propagate in water! They start to form their own root nodules then roots 🙂

I’ve propagated ZZs from just the leaves. It just takes an ungodly amount of time though. Literally like a year of the rimazome to form and then long still to get roots and shoots. Patience is key with this one. I put mine in soil and keep it moist with a clear plastic cup that has a couple of holes poked in the top covering them.

They root pretty fast actually if you stand them up in leca and keep the water level close to the bottom of the leaf or cutting but never touching.
People say similar things about Sanseviria props too. Same thing works on them a lot faster and strong growth right away.
