      Hard to tell with the camera moving around, but do they fly/have wings? If they fly, they’re fungus gnats. Harmless but extremely annoying and they come from everywhere. Mostly they come from outside or from your potting mix.

      If they don’t have wings then they’re springtails and you’ve hit the jackpot. They also come from everywhere, though personally mine came from an eBay seller for $9.99 USD before shipping. They’re priceless to any kind of bioactive terrarium, super helpful for potted plants, and cute too if you can get one under a microscope.

      Springtails are friends. They break down organics in your soil and help promote a healthy soil ecosystem for your plants to thrive. Dirt is their natural habitat and they support the other organisms and processes in the soil to make nutrients available to your plants.

      They are incredibly abundant species and live in the dirt all around us doing their job as little janitors helping with decomposition. They could have hitchhiked in your potting soil, on a plant, or on a gardening tool or glove.

      Ok I’m following this. So are those good in an indoor houseplant?? In a plant, near my bed?

      It’s really hard to tell, but if they aren’t on your foliage, and you don’t have any things flying around, then they’re probably harmless soil mites. Still photos are better.
