Gefunden beim Roden, um Platz für ein Blumenbeet zu schaffen. Ich weiß nicht, ob es vorher an einem kleinen Brandmal hing und herunterfiel oder einfach auf dem Boden lag. Der Schwanzteil wackelt
It’s the pupa of a an insect – probably a moth of some sort.

A friendly Hawk Moth – depending on what kind of hawk moth they are great pollinators and fantastic for the garden. As others have said, pop it back into some shrubbery and it should be okay.

Anyone who’s seen The Silence of The Lambs should know what this is 🤣.

Hawk/Sphinx moth Chrysalis. Probably from a Tabasco horn worm. They are pretty cool moths, they can hover like humming birds.
Edit: Tabacco*** but also not because they don’t exist in the UK. So more likely to be the chrysalis a Laothoe populi, (Poplar Hawk Moth) or possibly Macroglossum stellatarum (Hummingbird Hawk Moth) as it was in a flower bed. Possibly Agrius convolvuli (Convolvulus Hawk Moth) , but a tad early for them.

We suspected we had leatherjackets in our lawn so went digging and found a handful of these things. If you find any more in the soil under the grass, you may have the same problem.

Some sort of xenomorph egg. Nuke it from.orbit, it’s the only way to be sure.

Hawk moth pupa. Leave in some leaves so it’s safe and sheltered. 🙂
There’s tons of hawk moths here, all are beautiful, big pollinators as adults from large, snake-like caterpillars.

I’m no mothologist but I’m pretty sure a chrysalis is a butterfly’s changing tube and that of a moth is called a cocoon.
But, again… I have zero PhDs in moth parts.

I found one of these once and it turned out to be cat poo.
