Cool plants! I planted one about 6 years ago & have kept repotting it since, it’s about 6 or 7 ft tall now so I hope you have lots of space for these in a few years time!

Once they have roots, you can pot them into soil.
I once grew one (about 100 years ago), and my sister got in a temper with me and pulled all the leaves off it. On seeing how upset I was, my boyfriend tied them all back on with little bits of cotton.

How do you get yours to root successfully? I managed it several years ago and it was great until my cat destroyed the plant at 2 years old. I haven’t been able to get any seeds to sprout since

Sifted out my compost this week and there were sooo many germinated avocados!
And the skins don’t rot down too well either.

About to try this for the first time! Is tap water (in the UK) fine to use, or distilled or rain water?
