Mein Mann hielt mich für verrückt, als ich ihm erzählte, dass ich 100 Tulpenzwiebeln in unser Vorgartenbeet gepflanzt hätte. Könnte nicht zufriedener mit dem Ergebnis sein 🌷

    That looks great. So pretty.

My only gripe with tulips is the bloom time and the ROI on flower bed space. Compared to something like a daffodil or dahlias, I feel that I get more time with them.

I do miss the initial burst of colors they bring. What’s your plan for behind them?

I planted mine a few years ago and they all came back the next year. The year after that, only 5 survived but this year only 1 survived 😭

  3. but the bags say 4-6 inches apart… it looks so pretty. I wish I hadn’t followed instructions.

I was bummed when most of ours didn’t come back. They’re advertised as a perennial but apparently they’re pretty fussy about the climate/soil. Then the few that did bloom got eaten by squirrels after a week or two.

So beautiful! I love it 🤍🌷
    What zone are you?
How long was it between planting and blooming?

    So pretty!!!

Ok I have the dumbest question- once they are done blooming, can you plan an annual in that same place?

The squirrels in my neighborhood would be working shifts digging them up. I had random tulips in the middle of my front and side yard.

  8. Squirrels would have dug up every single one of these. I thought about covering In chicken wire. Can anyone confirm if that would work?

Gorgeous!!! I don’t have an in ground area like this otherwise I would 10000% be doing this. I planted my bulbs in pots, this was my first time planting tulips (my aunt brought back bulbs as a gift from her trip to Europe). They are recently starting to sprout above the soil, just little baby buds so far. I hope they make it 🤞🏼. If/once they bloom, what do I do when the blooms die off? Cut them back? Leave them alone? Dig up the bulbs and store them until next year? I’m in zone 9b-10a

So beautiful! I’ve also read you can plant two bulbs at different depths that bloom in different seasons for greater color coverage.

    gardener by trade here

if critters start going after the bulbs, pour Chicken manure on top before burying. that’ll stop it

The bunnies get to my tulips before they ever bloom, I never get to enjoy them. I’m so jealous!!

Umm okay I did NOT realize how easy it was to plant tulips I thought it was a whole planning spacing thing, I love the idea of tossing shit in the ground and seeing what comes up but I’ve always thought it was a myth. I really wanna try that throwing a mixed bag of wildflower seeds on the ground, not doing anything and seeing what happens but too scared!

Love tulips but the bunnies snack on them and I never even get to see the flowers. Have to figure out which spring bulbs I can do this with that they won’t eat!

  15. I add Mole Max in the bottom of the trench and then on top of the bulbs before covering them with soil. Otherwise the moles, voles and squirrels treat them like a buffet.

Picture 1: I’m going to like this.

    Picture 2: I LIKE THIS.

  17. I put all my bulbs in fridge for a week in June and plant them all in July
