Hallo zusammen,

Okay, it’s kinda weird… but the florist really tried their best with that bouquet. Points for effort, haha🐥
The local florist could have used more flowers instead of greenery.
But, yeah, it could have been more romantic. They did the best they could with what they have in the middle of winter.
At least you are getting a ten euro refund.
Yeah I’m with you, that feels like a pretty big downgrade the delivered one is way heavier on greenery and darker tones, so it loses a lot of the warm, romantic vibe the original had.
Okay, it’s really a simple bouquet, but I’m sure she’ll love the thoughtful gesture of buying one as a gift. If you want a suggestion to make the bouquet look less “empty,” you could add a cute keychain or a small gift to fill that empty space. 😊💕
Ok… ex florist here. I appreciate that Valentine’s Day and Mother’s Day are a nightmare for florists, but that is a dreadful excuse for a professional bouquet. No ‘professional’ would put their name to that — you can get better at the supermarket and you have every right to complain. I’d demand a full refund or replacement… they are *legally* obliged to do so! ‘Relay’ companies, such as Interflora will actually fine a florist if they do not deliver the bouquets as advertised. Hope all’s well with your girlfriend despite this disappointment. 💐
It looks very much like a Christmas bouquet.
Hi! I’m a florist!
First – it’s very sweet of you to send Valentine’s flowers to your girl!! Receiving flowers is always exciting.
The pineish greenery was definitely a poor choice from a design perspective. I’m not even sure why a florist would be carrying that during Valentine’s. Eucalyptus or Italian Ruscus or a more traditional greenery would have looked more romantic.
I’m glad you got some money back from the relay service! Because this is definitely disappointing.
I would always recommend placing orders directly with florists as opposed to relay services. The relay service will advertise a product but they have no control over the actual order being fulfilled. The relay services will also advertise an unrealistic low price point and then the florist will “fill to value” using their own pricing, which is realistically more expensive for quality flowers, especially during peak holidays like Valentine’s when the farms jack up the prices. And then the customer ends up with a smaller/different bouquet than they wanted, and everyone is left disappointed.
To find florists that offer same-day delivery, I like to go to findaflorist.com and search by delivery zip code! From there you can reference reviews and websites to find one you like.
But yeah – as a professional florist, I would deem this disappointing and some questionable greenery choices were made here.
That is Jingle all the Way to me!
It’s giving Christmas imo. Not very romantic…
im an american and i work at a small shop. wire services often advertise many flowers and products that we do not offer or carry regularly. especially on a busy holiday like valentines day, orders placed directly with us are prioritized since we get the full amount of money for the order and have direct communication with the customer.
when you order with a relay/wire service, you are allowing someone else to speak and make decisions for you. this person is 9/10 times a foreigner in a phone booth managing at least 200 other orders. its impossible to get timely replies from these people when it comes to substitutions, and we have to make our best guess. combine this with the fact we are instructed to prioritize inventory for our direct customers, im not surprised your bouquet ended up like that.
relay services are terrible both for florists and customers. its very easy to find a local business using google maps, you get such a better deal and you have more control over your arrangement.
the delivered bouq has more value than the requested selection. the requested bouq has one rose and 2 roses are included in the delivered. hypericum berries and white lisianthus are more expensive than mums.
Florist of 14 years here..the greenery is ming fern..but is a weird sub choice for the other foliage used. But might be what they had to use. Should have tucked it further down so it didn’t overpower your flowers. If it was pulled down more it would have not felt so greenery heavy. The berries were an odd choice to sub, same for white lisianthus instead of the mums but you do have your value there in terms of money.
I don’t think this is the worst sub I’ve ever seen but not the best choice either. They should have stuck with the color scheme as that’s the most important aspect when choosing a sub. That and subbing equal or greater value.
I like the one received better
Chiming in as another ex-florist here. Valentine’s Day is absolutely crazy hectic for florists as I’m sure you can imagine. If I had to guess, they probably got overloaded with orders and ran out of the flowers they needed earlier than expected. It’s also possible that they didn’t initially see your order because it was through the relay service instead of through their regular order system.
In the future, I’d recommend calling your local florist and placing an order at least a week in advance. Many floral shops offer delivery, and you get the added bonus of supporting a local shop. Those relay services take a huge chunk of the profits from the shops, so I would expect your order through them to be of a lower priority to the florists.
It’s really ugly a poor substitute!
