Ich bin neu im Garten und habe von Kiesgärten gehört. Der Vorteil besteht darin, dass sie weniger gegossen werden müssen und Sie pflanzen können, was Sie möchten, ohne dass Unkraut durchkommt. Es gibt Erde und dann Unkrautmatten und dann 20 mm Kies/Schindel. Vielleicht habe ich es vermasselt, weil ich abgerundete Steine hatte, die sich offenbar nicht zusammensetzen bzw. nicht zusammenhalten, wenn man sie feststampft, um eine festere Lauffläche zu ergeben.
Mein Ziel ist es, beim Gehen auf Schotter möglichst wenig Bewegung unter den Füßen zu haben
Kann ich irgendetwas tun? Fügen Sie vielleicht ein Bindemittel hinzu, das nicht dauerhaft ist, damit ich Löcher in die Matte bohren und Dinge bepflanzen und sie dann wieder abdecken kann.

Put in stepping stones maybe
Take the gravel up and put gravel gridding down, then gravel back on top
Need to come up with more of a clear plan and do more research.
Its not really a gravel garden and round gravel won’t compress underfoot so expect constant movement of the stone. You’ve put down plastic membrane on probably compacted soil/subbase and are expecting plants to cope with far from ideal conditions.
There was a good segment on dry gardens in a estate named after Beth Chatto in the last gardeners world and they show what was done.
Hope no one has a sycamore tree nearby… seeds love gravel.
Aggregates compact better than one size of pebble
Needing less watering and “plant what you want” doesn’t make any sense.
Needing less watering would only be applicable to drought-tolerant plants, so no you can’t just plant what you want.
Less weeding? Not really, especially not after a year or two once new soil develops in the gravel gaps.
I don’t even follow your plan here – 2 cm of gravel is just a top layer, so you’re planting plants through the membrane and into the soil itself below? Is the membrane permeable?
Something to be aware of that folk don’t seem to consider or really talk about, but, our pebble/gravel section of the garden attracted a lot of spiders. Personably I was pretty happy with this, but my wife and daughter less so. Needless to say the gravelled area is now being reduced come summer next year, freaked them out too much. Not sure if it’s just an anomaly for our garden but it’s something to consider.
