Ich weiß nichts über Gartenarbeit, also weiß ich nicht, ob dieser Wert so niedrig ist, dass ich Mistarbeit erledige, ob er vernünftig ist oder ob er zu hoch ist, dass ich betrogen werde. Gedanken?

Are you asking for the tree roots to be dug out or felled to a stump? Are they disposing if the waste or are you putting it in a garden waste bin?

  2. For £850 I’ll drive from practically anywhere in the UK to you, pay my own fuel, hotel, do the job in a day and drive home the next and still be £500 up.

A relatively fit person or even someone with severe dad bod could smash that in 2 hrs max. With a tea break.

    Ripoff quote.

** In all seriousness, OP with a decent spade, a hand saw and a pair of seceteurs you could do this in a couple of days if you’re able and taking your time. Sedge grass is stubborn but not impossible and will want to come out in a big clump. It holds a lot of soil in the roots but it will shake out. The ivy will cut back very easily. The tree can be cut down easily with a decent saw fairly quickly. If you’re buying new tools, it really shouldn’t cost you more than £50. If you drive your local council recycling centre should have a domestic compost area where you can get rid of everything. If you leave the logs out front with a free sign. They’ll magically disappear before the day is out.

Sounds like a quote from someone who doesn’t really want the job

  4. Dave-the-Flamingo on

    I’d say too high.

That is a days work at best

Most of the shrubs are Sedges which should come up fairly easily especially with a [Mattock](https://www.toolstation.com/roughneck-pick-mattock/p70576?store=null&utm_source=googleshopping&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=googleshoppingfeed&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=17623036513&gbraid=0AAAAAD-vLcWAZ9KiwnmaoZOBwKElshK0h&gclid=CjwKCAiA8vXIBhAtEiwAf3B-g7p87r_Q2ZU-dwYD2vM9OeRj_VxtWQEzX8zQ9fOajLSjGeEAQOut3xoCRZcQAvD_BwE)

The ivy doesn’t look like it is on your side of the fence so all you can do is cut it back to the fence and should take 30mins with a pair of secateurs. The bits that may be on yours looks to be fairly young so you should be able to pull/gif it up at this stage.

Not sure why you have asked to remove the tree is it dead? Looks like it is a cherry/prunus? There are lots of suckers coming up from the roots but you can just trim these back with secateurs.

Too high Are they even taking waste away ? You can probably get a day labourer to do it for 200 and you take care of the waste either take it to tip or put it in garden waste bins over next few weeks.

Way too high. If i didn’t want the job, I’d give them.a high quote.

  7. Appropriate-Sound169 on

Wow! We paid £600 to get two huge lelandi removed. They were over 30′ tall. In SW England. That’s a crazy price for a bit of digging. Not saying the price is wrong, but I’d pay a couple of local teenagers to do it for £100 each 😬

  8. Just for comparison, I had around 5 densely grown conifer trees about 2m high taken removed to a stump with all mess taken away for £250 earlier in the summer.

  9. mfy8cdg7hzkcyw8vdn3r on

    That’s an eff off price.

Just got quoted the same to fell, remove and grind out the stump of a very big, old (and sadly, dying) cherry. That includes disposing all waste too.

    Much bigger job.

  10. gemmanotwithaj on

If I was told 800 quid I’d be getting out my gardening gloves and do it myself lol

  11. ___STitcH__ on

Nearly put in a bid myself to drive from Ireland, bring you lunch and do it. Crazy price!

  12. Dr_Frankenstone on

As others have posted, the price should be between 200-350, tops! I hope the other quote you get is more realistic and reasonable.

  13. GodsGimp-87 on

Im in the North so take this as you will.

I paid 2 lads £50 to rip out about 7 bushes, roots and all. They got a bus over with a spade and a hoe and had it done in about 45 minutes.

  14. Jazzlike_Accident728 on

£850 for this! I dread to think how much they’d quote for what I need doing haha

  15. AcrobaticFilm on

Thats a fuckoff quote from somebody who doesnt really want the job at best. At worst somebody is trying to rip you off. 3-400 absolute max, and thats with getting rid of all the waste.

  16. pixie_sprout on

When you say removed do you mean replaced with gravel or slabs? Because if it’s just what you describe then it’s 2 hours work max.

  17. welchyyyyy1 on

If you’re in Swansea give me a shout, looks no more than a mornings work at the very most (can’t always tell from photos, it may be a bit more than it looks at first glance), but probably about £150 at the top end including getting rid of waste

  18. Mountain_Evidence_93 on

£850 is too much. With the correct tools that will take less than half a day to clear.

  19. Removing a tree stump can be hard work, I would give it a day, especially if they are also disposing of it. £850 is a lot for a day.

  20. bearvswoman on

We call this a FOP (fuck off price) someone who can’t be arsed doing it so put a load of money on a job.

Company I work for would quote around £150 w/ waste removal

  21. Yeah too much. We had a whole thick fence of the stuff and got quoted 200 for 3 guys to turn up, chainsaw it all down and dispose of it within a couple of hours.

  22. AMoonShapedGhoul on

Admittedly it was 4 years ago but I got 10 established trees and 4 huge stumps ground, as well as a bunch of overgrown shrubs removed for about the same cost

  23. j_dizzle_86 on

As long as you’re with an hour or to of me I’d do that for £300. You’re being ripped off

  24. FrancesRichmond on

It’s a ludicrous price! My friend and I cleared more than that from my front garden in a morning, dug down about 8 inches, weeded thoroughly and dug in a tonne of top soil- and we are two women in our 60s.

That’s a small border. You are being ripped off.

  25. Feersum_endjjinn on

    850. Literally how do people have the fucking gaul to say number like that for a job like that. Unbelievable. Just do it yourself. 💪💪💪 and to be helpful £200 absolute max top number.

  26. North_Fortune_4851 on

Maybe I’m the fool but I do this kind of job regularly I’d charge about 80 quid with taking the waste away.. I could be blind sided by fiddley bits and take a bit longer but no more than 100. 3 hours work tops surely?.. yeh get another quote

  27. itllbeokinthemorrow on

Depends how big the tree stump is, and whether or not they’re grinding it out. The actual weeds are a couple of hours work. I would say the quote is high, it does sound as though they don’t really want the job!

  28. No_Category3719 on

Big tree company or garden company’s have tons of work most likely, so they don’t mind trying there luck on small jobs. Personally, I love gardening and love to compost too, so I’d grab the tools and do it myself, compost whatever I could, and take the rest to the tip.
Save £850, get a workout and some free compost material

  29. £850?! You don’t need to know much about gardening to remove plants. Sounds like a rip-off.

  30. Actual-Spread1407 on

Probably priced it so high as they didn’t want to do it. I would do that for £100 all day long and would still feel it was to much

  31. I’d probably charge around £150 including removal of waste. NW England.
