Depending on where you live I’m sure you could.
In the pnw they have volunteer teams that come through and hack out as much as they possibly can.
If that’s a park just pull some nice vines up with the roots attached.
I mean, you def can, but don’t plant it outside, it’s crazy invasive almost everywhere lol
Your dog is so cute. My dog and I have the same matching hoodies lol
Ivy is toxic to some pets, double check if it might affect your dog
Pros of living in Europe: we get to just appreciate english ivy, as it’s not invasive here! 😀 I love how this one you found looks!! Also your dog is super cute :з
Why tho?
yes, you can – just don’t get caught in case it’s not allowed 🙂 I have propagated ivy cuttings from German public spaces in September this year, they root easily within 1-2 weeks if put in water. I mostly followed these German [instructions ](https://www.feey-pflanzen.de/pages/efeu#vermehren) but also used some wooden stems that actually also rooted very well in water, they just had some transient mold that was easily brushed off and then didn’t come back. Now everything is in soil and spawning plenty of new growth.
I’ve spent so much time and money trying to get rid of this as it’s destroying my fences and brickwork, it’s in my drains underground… Why would you want this.
It’s common ivy, found everywhere all over europe. Easy to prop. I’m sure nobody would miss a frond or two.
Come to my yard where I have repeatedly sprayed all sorts of poisons on that stuff to try and kill it off
Cute dog
Ugh, I’d give you all of mine if I could in southern USA.
Yeah absolutely, it will grow incredibly quickly. I almost think it’s criminal to pay for ivy.
It only takes a little sprig. Maybe take it when no one is watching. It isnt a rare or valuble plant. At my last home I had to fight this stiff. It would cover trees and kill them and climb my house and destroy my brick walls with it’s tendrills. Really, dont plant it inside. Kep it in a pot and if you trim it throw the cuttings in a fire.
Yup! I took a 4 leaf cutting from some ivy growing in the shade at the BEACH in the states a year and a half ago and it’s now 5x as big. They seem to enjoy dry and bright conditions. Which was a surprise to me but I think the one I propped may have just been more drought tolerant because of its location 🤷
who’s going to stop you, is my question?
Certain parks (national parks) may have strict rules about removing plants. Even invasive ones.
But I can’t see why removal of a few healthy feet of it would be a problem. Get it home and laid out on his soul medium, lightly sprinkled with the same sokl and kept in bright but indirect light.
Ivy is Satan’s own crop.
Of course you can! Those types of ivy’s grow invasively. You’d be helping to prune them.
Welp I thought this was invasive species and you were trying to save the tree. Save the tree yes. Take the ivy sure. Plant it in a pot maybe, but that tree won’t like the ivy much.
That shit is invasive as fuck outdoors & prone to spider mites indoors. Good luck.
Dog: My favorite part of horticulture is the bark.
The tree will probably thank you. 💚🌳🌿🫶
Wtf, i got a little pot of English ivy (varigated? Idk it says varigated so il stick with that) for only like 0.50 or 1 euro
Prop it! This looks like (english?) ivy mayhaps. Which often struggles to prop/root and is very finicky. But possible i think (i just have been unsuccessful). Also many species of ivy are toxic to dogs so double check.
I’m sorry I don’t have anything useful to add to your question about the ivy, but I LOVE your dog. Do you know the breed? I have an Australian Castle Dog/American English Coonhound mix who looks very similar but has the ACD spots throughout his coat.
